The London College of Teachers and Trainers (LCTT) is an approved center of OTHM, a UK-based awarding organization regulated by Ofqual (Office of the Qualifications and Examinations Regulation).

Overview

The OTHM Level 3 Foundation Diploma for Higher Education Studies is designed to provide learners with a solid academic foundation and a clear pathway to UK and international university programmes.

The programme equips learners with essential knowledge and skills in:

• Academic English and Study Skills (20 credits)
• Foundation Mathematics (20 credits)
• Foundation Computing (20 credits)
• Society and Culture (20 credits)
• Introduction to Business (20 credits)
• Foundation Accounting and Economics (20 credits)

This balanced curriculum enables learners to adapt to change, strengthen their academic abilities, and progress confidently into higher education or employment.

Entry Requirements and Eligibility

• Learners aged 16 and above are eligible to enrol.
• OTHM does not impose specific entry requirements; however, learners must have the appropriate ability to meet the programme’s learning and assessment requirements.
• Applicants from non-majority English-speaking countries must provide evidence of English language proficiency, in accordance with OTHM’s English Language Expectations.

Following are accepted:

• Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) level B2
• Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) 51
• IELTS 5.5; Reading and Writing must be at 5.5

Equivalences

OTHM Level 3 qualifications are positioned at RQF Level 3 and are considered academically comparable to GCE AS/A Levels.

Qualification Structure

The programme consists of six mandatory units and provides learners with:

• 120 credits
• 1,200 Total Qualification Time (TQT)
• 600 Guided Learning Hours (GLH)

Duration and Delivery

• The programme is designed to be completed within one academic year on a full-time basis.
• Flexible study options are available, including part-time and distance learning. The programme is delivered through lectures, tutorials, seminars, and online learning exclusively by approved OTHM centres.

Assessment and Verification

• All units are internally assessed by the centre and externally verified by OTHM.
• Assessment is criterion-referenced, requiring learners to demonstrate that they have achieved all specified learning outcomes. To successfully complete each unit, learners must provide sufficient evidence to demonstrate that they have met all assessment criteria.
• Assessors maintain a complete audit trail to support and confirm the basis of their assessment decisions.
